Roebling Rd PCA DE

Post by newminiman »

Anyone interested in participating in a Porsche Club DE? There are 2 of them in September. One is hosted by Coastal Empire PCA club in North Carolina on Sept 21 - 22, and the other is hosted by the Florida Crown Region PCA on Sept 7-8. I have done 3 of them in my Mini, and had a blast. Roebling Rd is located near Savannah Ga. The cost is $225 for the weekend. You typically get five 25 minute sessions on Saturday and five on Sunday. If it is your first time, you would be in the green group, and would also need to pay $90 for your instructor.

Florida Crown Region PCA web site: http://www.pcafcr.org/driver-education.asp
Coastal Empire PCA web site: http://cerpca.net/

Roebling Rd is a great place for learning the limits of you Mini because if you happen to spin, most of the track has lots of grass between the track and any hazards such as trees. The Mini's hold their own in the corners, and don't do bad on the main straight either, even against Porsches. It is not a competition, it is exactly what is sounds like, a Driver's Education. Passing is aloud in particular areas, only when waved around by the car you are overtaking. There will be BMW's, Corvettes, Miatas, Hondas and of course Porsches and more. They welcome non Porsches with open arms, and everyone is very helpful and friendly.

I will be attending one of the two events, the one I choose will depend on when other Minis owners may want to go.

That's not a bad price and roebling is one of my Fav tracks. Hard on tires there.
Heading up to the FIRM this weekend for $200 for a track day there. Not as big as roebling but quite close. There was some discussion on the Facebook side of SSM about it.

Hard on tires at RRR?
First time I've heard that since the repaving several years ago.
Most folks comment on how tire-friendly they find the surface.

Did anyone else up attending?
No MINIs on track.
I parked at the exit from the grid back into the paddock in order to be visible to anyone who might have been there.
Looks like there are possibly two more Porsche Club DE events at Roebling Road this year: 20-21 September and 7-8 December.
