I've got a couple of offers on cars since the motor has to come out of the S2000. Depends on if I have to tow something down or not weither I'll drive the Mini down.

I am Sooo disapopinted. I have been waiting for an event where some other mini's would be there and my throw-out bearing disintegrated at Watkins Glen and I won't have it back together by then! :-(

Sorry you can't make it! I'd like to go to an event with other MINIs, too, but I'm still the only one signed up :?

Good luck getting the car back together, anyway. Hopefully we can actually get a group of MINI people out to a motorsports event sometime!

I'll next be on track at Sebring Nov 10-11 with PCA. I love being the bright Yellow box in a sea of Metalic Grey Door stops!

Shoot, I could do a clutch and flywheel in a day. Get it up here.

I'm bringing the wife and baby down and the mini isn't really quiet enough for baby in the backseat exposed to an hour and a half of the exhaust drone. I've got the non-running S2000 tieing up the trailer. I was thinking I'd bring the Mini down and autox it but the wife wants to come so probably just drive her Volvo down and instruct, Still thinking of borrowing a car for TT, waiting to see if any class gets to 4 cars that I can borrow a car in so that there is tire winning eligibility. Chi said I could run his Turbo S2000 in TTB. But no one in TTB so no point in burning up tires.

Hey, do you have anyone in particular you're instructing? Mind if I request you? I think it's safe to say you'd probably be the best to instruct driving a MINI. :)

Why not stock. I've found nothing but reliability issues with all the aftermarkets clutches with the exception of the very expensive ones. And the Stock clutch will hold just about any power a R53 with a M45 supercharger can make. IIRC the Grand-am Mini's back in the day were doing 260-270whp on OEM clutches. The OEM clutch is pretty darn good. One of the guys here has got a Car here making over 250whp on the OEM clutch and it holds nicely. I run the OS in ours but it's on the north side of 300 at the ground.

It was looking a bit weird to me too

Hey Ian, not to hi-jack the thread but!

You may know Luis Sanchez down here. He is manufacturing/assembling an all metal throw out bearing that is tougher than the Stock unit that died pushing my Exidy Pressure plate. I am putting it on my car as don't trust the composite based unit. Any thoughts?

The OS clutch comes with an all metal bearing as well. But the plastic ones don't fail as often as people make them out to. I've got customers that track and autocross their mini's like crazy and still get over 100k before the throwout bearing yacks. Usually the clutch is near done by then. The Aftermarket clutches seem to all get like 30-50k and they fail. I recently replaced a clutchmasters that failed at 56k miles. I called clutchmasters because the flywheel had come out of round and broke the nose off the starter. I didn't install it but the customer had it done else where in town 56k earlier. Clutchmasters acted excited that it made it 56,000 miles. I think the comment was, "wow, that's good life". I said NOTE TO SELF. I have STOPPED installing aftermarket clutches. It's just a warranty nightmare. I'll do light weight flywheels but only OEM clutches.

I noticed that after I posted :-D

Looking like a good turnout (in general, not for MINIs). Hopefully the rain stays away!

Request Jason Hupenbecker as your instructor. He use to hold a SCCA National License and he's a pretty darn good instructor.
