Many thanks to Jim, MSCC, and Evolution. I had a great time, even though my driving couldn't quite match my JCW kit. (I knew there was a reason why I didn't put the badges on.) Nontheless I had loads of fun on both days. (with new car-matching, hair-matching skin tone to show for!)

Original owner of the 100% problem free’02 MCS, chips in paint, pits and dings in windshield, brake dust wheels, scratch on rear passenger side, survivor of 3 hurricanes sitting on the driveway, constant bald tires, I love this thing. Great MINI, but totaled now.

Driving GP 0395 now, WOO HOO!!!

I got a little burnt, but not as bad as I thought I'd be. My buddy Ben on hte other hand is roasted.

On a different note, there was a guy, whose name I forgot(sorry, I'm gorrible with names), but I asked you to take a picture of me on one of my laps. If you are reading this, could you PM me and I'll get you my email address to send it to. Thanks...

hahaha! That's what you two get for tanning while the cones were flying! "CONE!! CONE!! Hey tan boys... pick up the cone!!!" Yeah...your buddy looked to be more of a crispy critter than you. ;)

BTW... you're talking about RonR. I'm eagerly awaiting his pics as well. :D

I must say I had a blast there also! Thanks Jim for organizing this. If you ever have another count me in.

I learned a good bit and I guess it worked. I stuck around the next day to participate in the Martin autocross and took 1st in G-Stock. They preferred that I not enter the Novice class so I entered the regular G-Stock. Several of the people who were at the school on Saturday did well on Sunday. Worked out rather well don't you think? It was a very enjoyable event and a nice change from what I was used to.

I'll try to post my pics soon.

If anyone wants to practice their new skills, there is another event in Ft. Myers this weekend. On Saturday they have the practice and Novice School. It is a good opportunity to get in a bunch of laps cheap, only $15 for the whole day and a free Lunch to boot. On Sunday is the actual autocross. You usually get 4 runs on a 1.1 mile course. It's very different from the Martin site with the course running down a concrete runway. Lots of grip and no loops. $25 covers the event and lunch. They also have a Novice class for each regular class. Hope to see some of you there.

Yes Phil, I got several nice shots of the classic Mini. If you need them right away I can email them, otherwise I'll post a link when I get them uploaded.

Tom... what's the start time & location for these 2 days? I probably can't make it, as I get out of work at 8 a.m., but some others just might.

Thank you for letting me toss you poor old classic around.

It was an amazing experiance. I just wanted to tell you that I was amazed at how well balanced that car was / is. I could throttle steer it!! I cannot really do that in my MCS.

I had a blast driving it and now I want one bad!!

No problem. I wish i would have seen more than the last little bit of your run. I wanted to see it run and hear what it sounds like. Oh well, maybe next time. Thanks again for setting the event up for us.I would like to do it again, and I would be happy to pay more money. I would like to do a practice event before one of the Martin autocross events. I think I am leaning more towards the practice events, because it seems as if a person would get more seat time and 4-5 track configurations. Less standing around and getting sunburned.

We will discuss this more soon. I have ideas. Like a practice day for Mini's w/ driving instructors available if you want them. 3 or 4 different courses and a limit of about 20 cars.

15 cars would cost $100 per car.

20 cars would be $75 per car.

Are these prices too high?

I think for me anyway, $75 would be fine. When it starts getting $100 and over is when I may have to limit my activities. That's only true if this becomes a regular thing. I wouldn't mind paying $250 for a one time weekend training class but a monthy $100 plus would start causing issues with "the Boss"

The instructors were great last time. I would really just like to get more time on the courses to practice what I've learned and do it without an instructor. Once I feel comfortable knowing that I have been able to execute what I've learned from them by practicing more would I want an instructor to get in my car again. At this point I feel like I know what I'm doing wrong, just need practice to get it right. Maybe we could have those that want instruction to pay a little more for that service? I would like a full "Fun Run" day, but at the same time we do need timing services and I don't know if that's something that is provided by the instructors or on loan from Martin's Sports Car Club. Either way, I'd pay more for timing if it was necessary.

I'm in for it! $125 or less preferred. You could make it an event for things that begin with "M" so we could have your RX7 out there too.

Yeah, I agree... I'll pay 75 or 100 bucks for a fun run day. If you want to have an instructor ride with you... so be it. I noticed that once I started doing the fun runs at the event, I did much better. Now if that had been early morning, I would want an instructor to critique me later, once I had the course down and needed fine tuning. If that makes sense. ;)

I would be happy with either, but I think we might have trouble getting that many people to commit, pay and show up. I would like to do it before we start having to deal with the 90 plus degree days. See,I'm probably the only Mini without A/C.
