The best way to sum it up, no that's too long, go to WikiPedia and look at the 2003 reimaging. Also check out SciFi.com and between the two it will kinda help. I know you have been in your Sith Lord training but this should help you. Then go out and rent or buy or borrow the Miniseries, and the series and to catch up. Bill will have you over

OH, and further note about a previous conversation. I was just looking at the SciFi site and the Chief's profile on the picture on the page reads that he is the father of the second Cylon/Human child. So they do make recognize that there are other hybrid children.

Okay, checked the wikipedia stuff and there is almost too much stuff, so I'll try my (brief) attempt.

Backstory...
Many years ago man created cylons, machines designed to do stuff for people. Cylons started thinking for themselves ad were pissed that they were basically slaves and a war erupted. A cease-fire was eventually arranged and the Cylons took off to find their own planet. Each year the humans sent an ambassador to some base in space for a meeting with the cylons, but the cylons never sent anyone.

Forward to the Miniseries...
A human is waiting at the base, expecting another no-show. Oddly enough, cylons show up, and now they have advanced their technology enough to mimic human shape/form (in this case, a really hot #6). The cylons wipe out the base and then start an onslaught of the 12 human colonies. The human race is all but obliterated, sent retreating into space looking for refuge.

Bands of humans start to group together, protected by Adama and the Battlestar Galactica and lead by the previous Secretary of Education, now President due to the 100 or so people in line in front of her dying during the Cylon attack. Now they are looking for fabled Earth to call home. Unfortunately, so are the Cylons.

While Battlestar Galactica is set in the genre of science fiction, it really is more of a social drama. And by far some of the best writing I have seen in a series in a long time, especially for one put out by the SciFi channel!

Evan... in all seriousness... if you want to come over to Riverview & watch the first few episodes, I'm down. I have all the DVD's.

And if you like those first episodes enough to want to watch them all, I can loan them to you so you can spend your money on mods & gas. As long as you guarantee I get them all back. (I'm on my 3rd box set of "Firefly" due to non-returned loans, and that's just one very short season... BSG would be pricey to replace)

Just holla...

I've loaned out the Miniseries to about 10 people, and all 10 of them immediately either requested to borrow the first season or went out and bought it themselves. It's a great show.

Yep, one of the best kept secrets on TV. Partially because it's not on a major network, and partially because of the sci-fi theme, which scares most folks away. Which is sad, because it is SO much more of a rich character drama than a sci-fi show.

OK, I just finished watching Friday's episode, "Revelations." Unlike Lance, my reaction is:

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Just... frakking... classic.

But now, I'm wondering what's left for the remaining episodes. Gonna be hard to top this.

I'm kinda with you, Bill. I liked the ending of the mid-season. Kinda reminded me of one of the Planet of the Apes movies, but won't say which for those who haven't seen this episode yet. Definitely will be interesting to see where they are going with the story for the next 10 episodes!

I am just asking why the frack is that type of cop-out bullshit there from a series that at some points had such excellent writing.

I hope they can pull it out the friggin toilet.

The only twisty thing it reminds me of is the twisty dance my crap does with the TP when I pull on the little handle.

Now I'll buy you a pint if they save it, but I think it's in the crapper.

OK, it's been long enough to go ahead & talk openly about how the episode ended. I think the post-apocalyptic, radioactive Earth was poetic. Especially since the Cylons had nuked the aforementioned 12, and humans themselves presumably destroyed this "last refuge" they had all held in legendary esteem.

Lance, were you hoping that they would never find Earth? Or perhaps you thought they would arrive to a tickertape parade, just in time for tea? How would you have scripted the Earth arrival? I'm curious to know.

My thought was that I figured the arrival would be the series finale. I'm curious to know what the last few episodes will deal with. Since the final Cylon hasn't been revealed, I'm curious to know how that Cylon will figure into the rest of the story- it's got to be something pivotal/significant to the condition of Earth or the future of the human race.

So who is the Scientologist who can tell us how this all ends? The originally BSG was based on Scientology. I thought perhaps we could get an insight. Anyone have Tom and Katie's phone number? \:D/

So do we have to wait for January again? If so I am going to be pissed #$!!

Hey guys...

I'm also an avid BSG fan. Interesting thread you guys have going here.

To answer your question: YES. It looks like the final part of Season 4 will come in 2009. they don't say exactly when.

Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore told TV Guide at Wednesday's screening of the mid-season finale that there's no way SciFi Channel will be able to get new episodes up and running before the end of the year. That confirms earlier reports that SciFi Channel wanted to put as much as a year between the two season halves, a decision that was strengthened during the recent Writers Guild of America strike pushed back production of the episodes, which is just wrapping up now.

"Realistically, there's no way to get back on the air faster," Moore said. Media and potential Emmy voters were onhand in Los Angeles to see the mid-season finale as a way to try and create some much-needed Emmy buzz for the show.

Getting in the way of an earlier release are things like the new fall season, baseball playoffs, the beginning of the football season, and simply post-production in the final episodes which is just getting under way.

I am just over having to have a valid political point to everything. It's friggin Sci-fi, gimme more drama, more excitement, not a "War is bad m'kay" presentation.

I don't know, if they take a hard right turn and come up with something surprisingly interesting then I guess I will have to say good on 'em, but I am not excited to see how it ends at this time.
